Manage a dedicated server
Check installation progress, IP addresses, power, operating systems and task history.
Open Manage → Dedicated servers and select your server. Actions depend on its current state and your account or project permissions.
Check the server before changing it
Review the hostname, IP addresses, installed operating system when available, power state, installation progress and paid-through date. A service can be active for billing while its server is still installing or powered off; these are different states.
For a new order, check its invoice first. An unpaid order is not an installed server. After payment and any required review, follow the installation progress on the service page. Do not restart or reinstall repeatedly while an installation is in progress.
Power controls
Confirm the intended server and save your work before using a power action. Start brings a powered-off server online. Stop and restart interrupt running applications and connections. Wait for the returned action to finish, then refresh the status.
Reinstall an operating system
Reinstallation erases data on the server's disks. It is not a reboot.
- Back up anything you need and verify the backup can be restored.
- Open the server's reinstall action and select an operating system from its compatible options.
- Review the hostname and supported access options, such as an SSH key already saved on your account.
- Confirm the target and the erase warning.
- Track installation progress and task history. Use the newly installed operating system's access details after completion.
Do not choose an OS profile from a different server or guess an installation code. Compatible images can differ by server.
Rescue and recovery
Rescue boots a temporary maintenance environment. It interrupts applications, but does not itself reinstall the operating system. Select a supported rescue image and follow the service's instructions to return to normal boot when maintenance is finished.
Use password reset only when needed, and retrieve its result privately. Do not paste service passwords or private keys into an AI conversation.
Billing and termination
Review billing settings and invoices from the service details. Termination is different from stopping a server: it ends the service and releases its allocated resources after cleanup. Back up your data and read the confirmation carefully before requesting it.
If an action stalls
Check the latest task and installation status before retrying. An accepted request is not proof that installation completed. Contact support with the service identifier, task reference, time/timezone and visible error; do not send passwords or API secrets.
